Avian Flu Updates: Impacts On Poultry & Wildlife
Free in-person and virtual presentation on Monday, March 24, 2025 at its offices at 248 Grant Avenue in Auburn, NY
(AUBURN, NY) Cornell Cooperative Extension Cayuga County will host a free in-person and virtual (webinar) presentation on updates related to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), commonly referred to as "Bird Flu," on Monday, March 24, 2025 at its offices at 248 Grant Avenue in Auburn, NY.
Experts from Cornell University, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and the New York State Department of Health will provide updates, explain the reporting process, answer questions and offer best practices for prevention, reporting and more. Presenters include:
- Amy Barkley, Livestock Specialist Southwest New York Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Team, Cornell Cooperative Extension Subject Matter Expert on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI);
- Christina M. Hoh, (NYS DEC) Wildlife Biologist I, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Fish and Wildlife | Bureau of Wildlife, Northern Montezuma Field Office;
- Bryon Backenson, MPH, Deputy Director, Bureau of Communicable Disease Control, New York State Department of Health, Assistant Professor, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University at Albany School of Public Health.
Concurrent presentations will be held at CCE Seneca County in Waterloo and CCE Schuyler County in Montour Falls, or individuals may choose to watch via Zoom on their own device.
